Do I have to uninstall the old YB!Pro before installing the new YB!Pro?
You should. Put in the new YB!Pro CD. When the installer appears, click and scroll down to Uninstall.
How and when should the project folder/yearbook folder be created?
The first time PageMaker is open after YB!Pro has been installed, the Setup Wizard will appear.
(After the YB!Pro License Agreement is accepted). The choices are ‘Create a New Yearbook/Project Folder’ or
‘Open an Existing Folder.’ If the project folder will be shared across a network, one person will choose
‘Create a New Project’ and proceed to setup the folder. All other users should choose ‘Open Existing Project’
once the first person has completed the setup. Both options will require a path be chosen for the project folder
using the Choose button. The first user will choose “New” to create a new folder for the yearbook. This folder
must be selected in order to complete the setup. The “Yearbook Folder” screen will reflect the path and name of
the folder that was created if this step is done correctly. The location and name of the folder should be written
down and stored near the computer. All other users must choose the same exact path when the ‘Open Existing Project’
option is selected.
I get the following error message when I try to open pages through YB!Pro, “No project folder found.” What do I do?
Trash/delete the YB!Pro Preferences file. On Macintosh, Taylor YB!Pro Preferences is in the Hard Drive > System Folder >
Preferences Folder. On Windows, YB!Pro.ini is in the hard drive (C:) > Windows or WINNT folder. When PageMaker restarts
the YB!Pro License Agreement will appear. After accepting, the YB!Pro Setup Wizard will begin, choose to Create a New
Project Folder or choose Open an Existing Folder. There must be a folder representing the location/drive and another
folder for the actual yearbook.
My YB!Pro toolbar is missing, how do I get it back?
Go to the Window menu in PageMaker, scroll down to the Plug-in Palettes. Click on Show YB!Pro.
How do I get the same folio design on every page?
To use a template: Create the folio design elements on a left and right page. If graphics or images are involved,
use PageMaker’s File > Place, not the YB!Pro Image Palette. Group all of the elements and save as a template. Remember,
you may only apply one template to a spread. If you intend to use another template, apply the layout template then open
the folio template. Select the grouping and Copy. Open a YB!Pro spread, and power paste (Windows, ctrl + alt + V or MAC,
option + apple + V) the folio grouping. To use the library: Create the folio design elements on a left and right page.
If graphics or images are involved, use PageMaker’s File > Place, not the YB!Pro Image Palette. Group all elements, and
then add to the library. Open a YB!Pro spread, drag the folio grouping onto the page and adjust the placement.
How to add extra pages to the end of the book?
Make sure the last page of the book does not have any elements yet. Delete the last page of the book by selecting it
in the Page Manager and clicking the Delete button. Click the “Add New” button. In the blank next to the word “Pages,”
type in the page numbers for the first double page spread to be added (ex. 96-97). Click “Update.” Continue with this
process until the desired pages are added. If a single page is needed, type the page number-same page number (ex. 98-98).
How are tip-ins done?
Add pages to the end of the book (as above). When adding the tip-in pages, be sure to assign all four pages as one document/file.
Indicate on the picture envelopes these are tip-in pages. (For the first tip-in, use pages 701-704, the second tip-in, use numbers 705-708, etc.)
How do I create a multi-page document, so that copy will flow from page to page to page (ex. index)?
In the Page Manger, delete the double page spreads involved. Then click “Add New.” In the blank next to the word “Pages”
type in the page range (ex. 142-145). Click “Update.” This would need to be done before layouts are drawn on the pages.
Be sure to turn Autoflow on under the Layout menu in PageMaker.
If pages have been saved from previous years or at a workshop, how can they be used in YB!Pro?
First, delete the pages in the Page Manager that the page files will replace. Then, click the “Import” button in the Page Manager.
Navigate to and select the saved page files, click Open. A dialog box will appear asking what the starting page number for the pages
to import should be. Type in the page number and click OK. Caution: Be sure these pages are the correct page dimensions/trim size.
Why won’t my images import into the Image Palette?
Make sure the images have been saved with a visible extension (ex: .tif or .eps). Images need to be a manageable size,
not “poster size,” as some are from digital cameras. Check names of the image files to be sure that duplicate names are not being used.
Why won’t my images drag onto the page?
Close the page. Re-open from the Page Manager. If the page is not listed in the Page Manager, click “Import” to find it and import
it into YB!Pro. Also, if dragging to a box, make sure that box is a frame (has an ‘X’ in it).
Submission: where is the submit file located and how can the contents of the file be verified?
After going through the submit process using the Submission Manager, the single compressed file will be labeled with the five digit
job number and the day’s date. It will appear in the project folder/yearbook folder inside the Submit folder. This file will include
all pages, images and fonts. Another file, a .txt file, is also created and will appear in the same Submit folder. Open this file to
verify the contents of the submission. You may submit more than once a day.
