Does Taylor have a guide for setting up InDesign Pages?
Yes, the Student Adviser Material Kit (SAM) has a complete InDesign guide. The guide will show steps from creating a
template through using InDesign’s advanced effects. Also, the Taylor Tools CD has blank templates for all three trim
sizes, pre-designed layout templates and library objects for InDesign 2.0.2 and InDesign CS.
Are there any Taylor plug-ins available for InDesign?
We are currently beta testing a plug-in for InDesign 2.0.2 and will soon begin beta testing another for InDesign CS.
Is Taylor Tools a plug-in?
No, Taylor Tools has several files that may aid in creating a yearbook.
I installed Taylor Tools but don’t have a toolbar, why not?
Taylor Tools is not a plug-in. The Taylor Tools CD has many useful files for creating yearbook pages for Taylor. It has
blank templates, pre-designed layout templates and library objects. The CD also contains Taylor Colors, Fonts and the
Taylor Standard Export Style for creating PDF’s. There is also a very useful PhotoShop Action that may be loaded into
PhotoShop to quickly format images to Taylor specifications.
When will the Taylor plug-ins for InDesign CS be available?
It should be ready for the 2006 season.
Does InDesign have a plug-in like PageMaker's Save for Service Provider?
InDesign has a Preflight function and a Package function under the File menu. “Package” collects everything you need to
submit your pages to Taylor.
How do you place images into a document?
Select the picture area - Use File/Place -- locate the picture needed to place and click Open.
How do I setup auto-page numbering?
Draw a text box for the page number on the Master page for the left page. Choose Type >
Insert Special Character > Auto Page Number. Repeat for the right page.
How do you indicate spot color?
Use the Swatches Palette to select the Taylor color and apply to the item on the page.
How do I link text frames in InDesign?
Select the first text frame and click on the frame outport - select second text frame and click on the frame
outport - repeat steps from third frame to fourth and fourth frame to fifth, etc.
We are getting ready to ship our pages - what do we do?
Run Preflight to check if the fonts and images are ready for shipping. Run Package to collect all support materials and
documents. Copy all collected items to a disk.
